I'm gearing up for a long road trip in my R1T, where the speed limits are pushing up to 100 MPH, and I'm curious about the best cruising speed to maximize range efficiency. Should I keep it chill with lower speeds, or can I crank it up a bit without wrecking my range?

Also, factoring in charging times and how long the trip's gonna take, whats’ the ideal highway speed to go for?

55 even up to 65, when that trade-off threshold begins to be reached. I do tend to stay at about 60 mph on travels, especially since we almost always tow and 60 seems to be the ideal speed. When we need to stretch to build a farther DCFC, the bias for range is stronger and lower.

I’ve heard this applies to all EVs too. For best range in your R1T, stick around 65-75 mph. Going much faster, like 100 mph, will drain the battery quicker. Plan charging stops at 20-80% for faster fills. Keep it chill to save time and range! Enjoy your road trip and stay safe!

Ah, the R1T road trip where speed and range are in a delicate dance! You can definitely crank it up a bit, but just know that the faster you go, the harder your battery has to work to keep up. It’s like trying to sprint a marathon, speed’s fun, but efficiency might take a hit. For the best range, aim for a sweet spot around 65-75 MPH, fast enough to enjoy the ride, but not so fast you’re stopping for a charge every 100 miles. If you’re feeling adventurous, feel free to push the limits, but don’t be surprised if your charging stops get a bit more frequent.

Cruise at 75 MPH, fast enough to feel like a road warrior, slow enough to avoid turning your trip into a series of charging pit stops. Unless you want a "range anxiety" tour;)

For best range efficiency, keeping it around 65-75 MPH is ideal. Cranking it up to 100 MPH will definitely eat into your range faster, plus you’ll be stopping to charge more often. A good balance between speed and range is key for a smooth trip!

For the best range, try to keep it under 70-75 MPH, think of it as a sweet spot for efficiency. You can speed it up a bit if you’re cool with more charging pit stops. Aim for 65-70 MPH and your R1T will thank you

EV road trips aren’t just about range, it’s also about charging speed. If you go too slow trying to stretch range, you could actually lose time because charging takes longer once the battery is nearly full.

Instead of worrying about absolute range, I’d plan for charging efficiency:
1. Keep speeds around 70-75 mph – Best balance of range vs. time.
2. Arrive at chargers with 10-15% battery – Faster charge speeds at lower SOC.
3. Use DC fast chargers strategically – Rivian’s Adventure Network or 350kW stations are ideal.

If you blast past 90 mph, you’ll be stopping to charge a lot more, so it’s all about what matters most, speed vs. charging downtime.
